A former PricewaterhouseCoopers employee claims she was the subject of racial discrimination while working for the big four auditor, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Mihaela Popa, 31, has filed a £40m compensation claim against the financial services firm alleging racial and other discrimination.
She told the Telegraph she was overlooked for promotion repeatedly and was the subject of sexual innuendos connected to her Romanian background.
The firm has won two previous cases based on the claims and said it would `vigorously’ defend the latest accusations.
`We successfully defended claims at the employment tribunal in November 2007 and the employment appeals tribunal in 2008. We will be vigorously defending the most recent claims,’ a spokeswoman said.
Popa worked as a forensic accountant where she earned £41,000, according to the Telegraph.
Popa told the paper her treatment between 2004 and 2006, became ‘progressively unbearable’ until she left the firm.

Not for me to comment on the specifics, but the kind of sexist, racist, inhumane, abusive and insulting treatment (passed off blithely as “banter” or “horseplay”) that emanates from the narrow, philistine, minor public – school men in these jobs, is well-known and a source of shame for our Country. To act with consideration for others` backgrounds is not “politically correct” – it is a feature of common human decency. Something our Class system militates against.
