One of those lessons of life you often hear from the older and wiser is something along the lines of: strive to do everything to the best of your ability and you’ll never fare badly. Or something like that. Anyway the point is that a bit of effort can go a long way, even if that effort is being the best unemployed person you know. Take Nicholas Higby for example who tells the Onion:
