This one’s for you.

Thought you’d use your numeracy skills to aid the development of commercial interests rather than scientific ones?

Well, you might have missed out on being one of the engineers that finally restarted the Large Hadron Collider on Friday evening after a 14-month hiatus while the machine was being repaired.

If such things no longer excite you then the fact that it has cost $10 billion  might. The UK’s contribution to this international project is £34m per year, or less than the cost of a pint of beer per adult in the UK per year. And the UK pays £70m per year as our annual subscription to the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN).

Probably worth it if they work out how the world works.
