Realising it was not his christmas bonus, Stephen Foster reported the error – and was rewarded with a crate of beer for his trouble. The sum, which after deductions appeared in the 31-year-old’s bank account as £800,000, was returned within 12 hours of the blunder. As a thank you, the depot worker was given a crate of Budweiser by this line manager in Gateshead. But there may be more to come as the matter is recieving ‘active consideration’ by the company’s head office.
