BDO – Non-doms are heading for the exits
They might not be the only ones wanting to leave but they have got the biggest incentives…
With tax coffers empty and a climate of wealth envy, the Treasury has been eyeing various rich targets. But some of those targets are making themselves hard to hit…by moving:
Accountancy Magazine: Thousands of non-domiciled entrepreneurs are poised to abandon the UK to set up elsewhere following changes in the law. And many have already left, according to BDO senior partner Stephen Herring.
The impetus to go is the £30,000 annual levy imposed in 2008 on non-doms who have been resident in the UK for more than seven years.
A crap economy probably isn’t helping either.
