Trainee Accountant Named and Shamed
after plagiarising information from websites when submitting coursework…
A harsh and unusual punishment by all accounts. The 24-year-old student was NOT actually banned from being an accountant and has just retaken his final exams but still had his ‘mistake’ made public.
MEN: Usman Ijaz was studying for his accountancy qualification with Kaplan Financial, based in Manchester’s Oxford Road.
But the 24-year-old plagiarised information from websites when he was submitting his coursework.
…
he was severely reprimanded in a public statement and ordered to pay costs of £478.
…
Chris Cope from the Accountants Defence and Advisory Service, said: “It is unprecedented that a student would be named and shamed like this.”
Harsh indeed.
