The taxman is chasing a reported £100m goal from the UK’s top footballers with its image rights offensive.

According to HMRC sources, its probe believes such arrangements may have allowed players to escape paying more than £100m in tax, the Daily Telegraph reported.

HMRevenue &Customs previously said it would be clamping down on the football industry and Accountancy Age learned of a high-level meeting between the Premier League’s FDs at which image rights and payments to agents were at the top of the agenda.
