Entertainment for the numerate…

…or anyone with an interest in unusual subjects of statistical analysis.

The movie is based on the 2005 book by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner. It is directed by five filmmakers, including Alex Gibney and Morgan Spurlock of Super Size Me fame.

For those that haven’t read it, the authors apply economic theory to unusual topics and in the process overturn perceived with some fascinating results.  Examples include, the economics of drug dealing and why most drug dealers live with their mums, and the negligible effects of good parenting on education.

For those that might be interested but can’t be bothered don’t have time to read it, the film will be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival which runs from April 21 to May 2 and should appear later this year as a documentary.
