HMRC aims for £5bn from tax cheats
With aggressive clampdowns left, right and centre…
They hope to raise an extra £5bn in revenues according to HMRC targets.
HMRC published the target in its Business Plan for 2010-2011. In the document, the taxman said it remained committed to helping those who wanted to pay the right tax, but warned it would come down hard on those who tried to sidestep their tax bills.
Offshore account holders, non-doms, doctors, maybe even accountants are all getting put under the microscope. £5bn looks somewhat optimistic though.
