Accountants FAIL at Communication Skills

Making a lifetime in the back office more of a career certainty than a lifestyle choice…

A report issued by recruitment firm Badenoch & Clark, The Commercial Challenge: building accountants’ skills, shows employers are struggling to find qualified accountants with the necessary communication and commercial skills.

Meaning that nearly a quarter of those surveyed are recruiting communications, design or visualisation experts into finance departments in order to fill more business partner oriented roles.

Adding insult to injury, one in five of employers said there wasn’t enough commercial awareness among their accounting and finance professionals. The old ‘no commercial awareness’ stigma. Ouch.

Not a resounding endorsement. Bring on the life coaches.
