Two women scorned is asking for serious trouble. Firtly there’s the wife, herself a former accounant. Then there’s the mistress – who was actually the stable girl. Mills & Boon eat your heart out.

Accountant Peter Rust was taken to court by a former client who is trying to enforce a £950,000 judgment against him by forcing a sale of his property. In the midst of all this, the two women (formerly) in his life have also asserted claims to some of his properties.

Daily Mail: In one corner is the wife of 40 years who stood by Mr Rust when he was jailed over money laundering charges. In the other is the much younger mistress who ‘did the dirty work’ as the family’s stable girl.

Both Patricia Rust, 58, and Virginia Madden, 39, claim they are entitled to a share of the value of Mr Rust’s properties – which include a string of homes in the Hertfordshire and Essex.
