Would Lib-Lab Coalition Mean Anti-Aspiration Team?
There are likely to be more than a handful of potential tax exiles readying themselves…
The mere mention of Lib Dem tax policies has businesses and the wealthy quaking. Added to that, the inevitable instability of the “Rainbow Coalition” as it has been dubbed, means there is genuine cause for fear. Prior to Brown’s announcement yesterday, one chairman nicknamed a potential Labour-Lib Dem pact; with perhaps Gordon Brown, Ed Balls and Vince Cable at the centre of power the “anti-dream team” according to The Times.
The Times: Companies are wary about revealing their true intentions on moving offshore but, having spoken to some of key players, I suspect we will see departures even if Cameron is able to form an alliance with Clegg.
Political instability, an inability to bring public spending within sensible paramaters i.e. more financial instability and a clear intention on the Liberals’ part to squeeze the rich until the pips squeek doesn’t bode well for aspirational Brits.
